Dig deeper
Oh boys and girls!!! We are about to dig deeper into the tank and get it really dialed in with a master solution after testing with AFR. This tank about to be on cruise control

What's up guys! im interested in what everyone is dosing to keep there reefs parameters stable and everything looking and being healthy and happy! I started dosing my tanks with all for reef by tropic marin and have noticed a big difference in growth, and stability of my alkalinity. that's the one number I try and maintain the most with the all for reef, I dose this within 2 to 3 hours of lights on. im using a kamoer marine doser on one tank and a reef factory doser on the other, both are great dosers for the price and both apps are pretty easy with some use! (My opinion) so what are you guys using and what dosers do you like for your systems and why ? Thanks for sharing!!!!!!!! ๐๐ ๐ก๐ชธ๐๐ชธ๐ฆ๐๐ชผ

Water changes definitely workโdonโt get me wrong.ย But I think we often overlook some important math. When you perform a 33% water change, you're only replenishing 33% of what was consumed during that time. The new water gets diluted into the existing water, which means each subsequent water change becomes slightly less effective. Over time, this dilution effect adds up. Thatโs why dosing macro and trace elements eventually becomes necessary. Personally, I believe this dilution is what led to the dreaded โold tank syndromeโ back in the dayโbefore automatic dosing systems became the norm.
I had AI do the math (any mathematicians out there want to verify this?)for what it would take to change 100% of the water in a system doing consecutive 33% water changes (keep in mind this does not factor time between water changes when more depletion of elements occurs) and this is what it came up with:

What are you all using to dose Alk? I have used Soda Ash for years and just changed over to sodium bicarbonate. its similar but slightly different. Anyone else mix up their own 2 part?
I am an ALL for Reefer too! On my 450 I also supplement with kalkwasser in my top off. For both I use Apex dos on the apex pro system. In my 25g and fresh tank I just mix the all for reef into the top off reservoir
